Stud History |
|
Aquarius Park Brahman Stud co-principles John Magner and Fiona Brierley began the stud in 1990 in the Casino district. In July 2005 they relocated to Fineflower (60kms from Grafton) to continue the expansion of the stud herd. To date cattle have not been shown. There has always been an emphasis on commercially important traits and raising stock under commercial conditions to ensure cattle can go out and perform the job required of them – getting cows in calf without looking back. The approach to Brahman breeding is to continually look for ways to improve the overall quality and efficiency in the herd, whist breeding easy care cattle that can handle most environments. Performance and the ability to produce offspring in harsh conditions as well as the capacity to excel on soft country therefore ensuring market requirements are met have always been important considerations. From 1995 polling has been a focus in the selection process, with polled or scurred bulls sought and used extensively in the herd. The focus has been on breeding grey polled stock however a small number of red cattle have been retained. |
